Writer's Digest Poem a Day Challenge, Top Ten Winner for Day 27, 2014
To be a monster
you need a lair
crazy eyes
and sticky hair.
An unhinged mind,
unblinking stare.
Effective monsters
like to lurk
and wait for folks
walking home from work.
Monsters like
the sight of blood
and dragging victims
through the mud.
No one taught them how to play
or right from wrong
or how to pray.
They spend their youth
in school detention,
toothless and old
they get no pension.
