In My Sun-flecked Drive to Work

Mar 16, 2018

In my sun-flecked drive to work
I said I love you to a mailbox with
handpainted flowers, an orchard happy with new apples,
a work-worn wooden cart, and
a field-tired tractor. I prayed for people
randomly—the guy in the red car, the folks
in the darkened house. I thought of Yogananda
lighting his smile of smiles.
I smiled all the way to work
and the light lessened
my private torments.

Kim lives in Maine, which is lovely, and where she continues her enthusiastic relationship with Art, Music, Nature, Books, Animals, Humor and Trees.
