Christmas Card

Cold, darker nights,
Thanksgiving and Oh Christmas tree,
this is the end of the calendar year
when we X out the final days
and make resolutions.
Peace on earth, yes, please.
Malice toward none, yes.
Walk a mile in your moccasins,
You walk a mile in my coat, my cloak.
I share my loaves and fishes,
anything so that babies are safe,
bellies are full,
and the nights shine in benevolent beauty
because malevolence finally lost its stomach.
